Poltava, a centre of the Poltava region, is located on the right bank of the Vorskla river. The population of the city is 350 thousand. The current name of the city at the first time was mentioned in the 15th century. The main places of interest are the Spasska Church (1705-1706), the Khrestovozdvyzhensky Cathedral (1699-1709), the Arts Museum, the Musical Drama Theatre named after M.Hohol, the Puppet Theatre, the Philharmonic Hall.
