Sumy hotels

Sumy was founded in the middle of the 17th centries as a fortress on the Psyol river in the mouth of the Suma river to protect the southern boundary of Moscow Rus from the forays of the Tartars. Sumy is the administrative centre of the Sumy region with a population of 300000 today. It is rich in the architectural memorials. The Voskresenskaya Church (17th century), the St.Peter`s and St.Paul`s Church (19th century), the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral (18th century) and Troitsky Cathedral (20th century) are among them. The other places of interest are the Arts Museum, the Museum of Local Lore and the Chekhov Museum.

 Lying on the banks of the Psyol River, in the north-eastern Ukraine, the city of Sumy is a major administrative, economic and cultural centre of the Sumy region, a junction of motor roads and railways.
